Lunch break fun today. Yesterday as we were staining trim and waiting for the floor to dry I was thinking I should do some landscape work and rake rocks and things. Then this morning we woke up to 3 inches of new snow and it just kept coming all day. So at lunch break Scott took the kids for a ride. He has done this before and it is a favorite activity now.

Sanding

Sheradia helps dad give the floor the second sand. After the first coat we have it a light screen then another coat. We will be doing another clear coat or two this week.

Floor

Scott and I put down the wood floor last weekend. We did it all (900 square feet) in less than 12 hours. It was a big deal for us. Poor Scott had blisters all over his hands and everything about us was sore but we did it. It is a all hardwood circular sawn so it looks very rustic.

Before we went home

Before we left the keys altogether we stopped for a last chance to find shells. Not really any luck but it was good to get out of the car and get our feet wet. We left early the next morning for home. The End

Leaving Key West

Before leaving Key West the next morning we parked by the beach and took a walk down to the pier. It was fun seeing all the fishing boats off shore and we took along cereal to feed the fish but I think all the pelicans scared them off. We fed the seagulls instead. Sheradia hid under our coats afraid of being pooped on. On the way back to mainland we stopped for a game of mini golf and ice cream.

Back to Key West

After taking mom and Dad back to Miami to the airport so they could go on to Belize we drove back to Key West which was our original plan and I already had booked a motel that was non-refundable. We didn't take a convertible this time though. The kids fed the birds and we went back to a market. Sheradia was scared from being chased by the roosters at Key West before so Scott caught one to chase her a little. Key West is run by the stray roosters and cats. I think they out populate the humans there.

Diving

We drove back up to Marathon and Scott and I went Scuba Diving. We spent 1/2 day in a pool learning and then the afternoon in the water. They did 2 dives I only went on one. For some reason I got sick on the first one but I enjoyed it. It was an amazing experience. The Keys are made from coral reefs so a great place to dive. It was so cool being right there with these bright colored fish and plants. Scott is considering getting his licence and wants me to do it with him. You always have to dive in pairs and I think he wants me as his partner because I use less air than he does so if he ever runs low he knows his partner has some! -ha ha!

Key West

The next day we drove down to Key west. The southernmost point in the US. It was such a hot day! WE took a tram ride around the island (all 3 miles by 4 miles of it). We were so hot and misserable and felt we saw enough that we called it a day. From Floriday mainland to Key West we crossed 47 bridges. The longest was 7 miles long as you can see in the photo.

Ismaralda

The first night we stayed half way down. We found a little self contained unit we were all able to stay at and the girls loved the pool next to the ocean. Everything is next to the ocean. Those little Islands are no more than 1/2 mile wide. The largest is only 3 miles wide. most of the time when you are not on a bridge you drive down the little highway and there are houses on both sides then the ocean. No more than 300 yards from one side on the strip island to the other. We loved watching these Pelicans. They were everywhere.

Cool Ride!

Back in Fort Lauderdale we were suppose to get on a boat for the Bahamas for 4 days but Scott was not allowed to go because of his paperwork for immigration. My dad was not disappointed as he doesn't like the Bahamas anyway so we went to the Florida Keys a little early. Scott , I and girls originally were going to drive down in a mustang after mom and dad left for South America but we all went down instead. Of course we couldn't get car or choice for that time but that was okay. We talked mom and dad into one too. It was an amazing drive! But a very expensive road trip! It was hard finding a motel under $300!

Epcot

The next day was Epcot. Dad and Grandpa took them on all the fast rides and there favorite was the one that simulates a test drive in a race car and another simulating one on a spaceship. The also like the one where it feels like to you paragliding over the world. Then we walked around to all the different countries stopping in Paris for some pastries of course! And a boat ride through Mexico. Scott and Dad also test drove a new invention and the kids played with some hands on Science.

Typhoon Lagoon

The next day we slept in and took it easy at Typhoon Lagoon (a Disney water park) It was a rather cold day but fun. We did just about everything here. The favorites of the girls are the little water slides, Lazy river, and the wave pool. My favorite was the water coasters. Just like a sort of roller coasters with ups and downs and twists but you are propelled with water. I must have went a dozen times! What fun. They even had a tank to snorkel in and Dad and Zeph suited up but once in the water Zephy changed her mind.

That night we went to Cirque Du Soleil - La Nouba an incredible show. I left a link to it in an earlier post. But one of the girls favorite parts was the little Asian girls doing their tricks. Here is a link to see that. They were 3 rows back from the front and glued to these girls who are not much older than they are. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h22o6cDMH3g&feature=related and the cyclist. My favorite was the power track which you can watch here. If you ever go there about 10 things happening on the stage at one time from trapeze way up or things off to the side. You need to go 2-3 times just to see everything. I know we missed so much as your attention gets caught in one thing going on you miss the other 8-9. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=whiiF2svQNs&feature=related

Parade

The Disney Light parade was great but everyone was so tired. It was very spectacular though and the girls even got a special greeting from Snow white. When it came time for the fireworks show Daddy and Zephy fell asleep and Sheradia was asking to go to bed!

Disney World

The next day was Disney World. Lots of fun and 6 tired people.

Florida

Finally got the cord back to our camera so here are the photos promised from the trip. We traveled all day on planes and airports to get there. Mom and Dad who had been on a couple of cruises out of Florida met us there with a rental car. We drove that night to Orlando. The next day we had to sit through a speal where they try to sell you a condo but we got cheep Disney tickets in the end. So it was worth it. Then mom and dad had another sales pitch to sit through at another resort but they got us 5 nights in a condo for sitting though it so that was well worth it as well. While we waited for them to finish we took the kids swimming where we would be staying.

Zephy's very blue room

The girls picked out the colors of their room and this bright blue was zephys pick. Here are the girls using the kitchen boxes to make houses.

My paint.

I spent two days doing this paint thing where you put glaze on the walls rub plastic on and peal off. It is suppose to look like leather but I don't think so. Scott likes it so I guess that is okay. Our Kitchen cabinets came the other day and Scott and I took them up to the house and unpacked them. They are so pretty. They will be set in place next weekend.
