Youth girls sing at Front Porch
This last week a couple of girls, Sue Ellen and Serretta, sang at the front porch. Front Porch is a new place of our friends in Eureka it is a coffee shop, with lots of things to eat and they have special dinners when artist are there. There is also music lessons, a book store, a yarn store and art classes. They have things going on there all the time featuring artist and musicians. anyway on Open mic they played. Sue B (as I call her) played 3 of her original songs which were amazing and I am trying to get her to do an armature CD of her stuff. So talented and anointed! And they sang together some classics. Fantastic job girls! I enjoyed the evening!
Tile

For the last couple of weeks I have been learning to tile. thanks to a good friend Rachel. I am so excited to be able to do our own tile (thanks Rach) We are using slate for the main floor and ceramic for the girls bathroom upstairs. But so far I have completed the entry way which you can see here and the 1/2 toilet for guest.
There is a close up of the different patterns in the tile. I can't help but think as we are working with this it is like having lots of pieces of Gods Contemporary artwork. even the girls as they were cleaning it were saying what they saw in each tile. Most of them remind them of photos they have seen from space.

this weekend at the house

Yesterday mom and I tried to do a feature all for Sheradia's room but it didn't work out so we just ragged it. It still looks nice and Sheradia loves it. Then I spent the rest of the weekend staining the windows and exterior doors (only 4 left! then to polly them) and Mom painted amazing looking clouds on zephys wall. And Scott hung doors and frame around closets.
assembly

at this months school Assembly Zephys class got to do the skit. They put on a poem and song to honor the principle as he retires this year. He is a cowboy so of course all the kids dressed up for him. Zephy takes any excuse to wear her hat and boots. They did well and the principle as well as teachers and parents were choked up when they all sang "happy trails to you"
Lunch with the crew of ELH

When I arrived they were all up on the roof putting BCI's in. Well all except one. (ha ha -sorry Corey, I couldn't help it!). Then after lunch around a smokey fire we played softball for much longer than we should have I'm sure. I was sick that day but they made me play anyway. Of course they have to have a big parade for the one who gets the most runs.

Toofless

Zephy got tired of her loose tooth getting in the way so she yanked it out at school Friday. Then she wanted Scott to pull the other one out too (it was loose first but was hanging in there for some reason). He did and it didn't want to come out very easy and when it did there were some tears and lots of blood. But the new tooth for that one is already coming through so don't know what the problem was. Anyway Zeph loves her new look and makes sure to smile an extra amount!
One more photo
The last photo of this weekend is Scott putting the stairs back together. It had to come down
while the floor was being put in and my job last weekend was to grind it back down (as we had been using it during construction so it was pretty beat up) and stain it. Scott got 3 coats of polly on it and ready to be put up with some help Monday morning then another coat and we're done with that!
Photos of this weekend.

The floor is finally finished! With many coats of sealer it still has texture like we wanted and I think looks great! Very rustic with still the knot holes and saw marks. Yesterday our friend Corey (scooters workmate) kindly put in our kitchen cabinets for us so now we are just waiting for the appliances and counter tops to come. I am so excited! The girls helped me today by washing some of the tile so that I could seal it ready to be put down this week.
