taking photos
Forgot to mention but the last couple of the house had to be taken within 10 feet of the car. I just went to see Scott at work and take he and the guys some scones for morning tea and then I was going to go take photos of the propery and what they did last weekend. Well they tell me that on our road yesterday a mother grizzley and three cubs were spotted and she mocked charged a car. They also told me to be very carefull of going up to the property alone. I didn't think to much of it and dove slow all the way up as I wanted to see her. It wasn't untill I was getting out of the car I realised that if she was willing to charge a car she must be pretty agressive. So needless to say I stayed close with the car running and the door open as for a quick escape. I never did see her.

Rach here,
Man! How awesome, living in the wilderness! What a dream (... could be a nightmare if not careful... but have you heard of many incidents where the wild animals actually did harm people in your kind of area?)
Funny reading about the window seat and how Lydia always wanted one too. I also have always wanted one to sit and read on, and Neal's putting one in the new room for me... Only yours looks like an outside window seat! Mine is under an old fashioned, side hung swing window over a wee brick edged garden (which needs work). I'm looking forward to using it!
It's amazing how much you both do! Talk about superwoman Rae! Cutting wood for the house (like I'd even know how or be allowed to even if I wanted to!) How do the kids occupy themselves while you're both working on the house? All this and youth work too! I really don't know how you do it!
Hey Rach,
So many questions -ha ha ha!
Yes there are attacks in our area but usuly due to people being stupid or not carefull. For the most part they are just afraid of you. I have heard so many stories or females being attacked when out in the woods with their period. So that always freaks me out during that time.
You will have to be sure to send photos of your window seat too. It sounds so romantic! can you open the window and smell the flowers?
You are making me sound like a superwoman! No- I am a superpotato! It was Scott who had to resort to me being the cutter and to be honest I was afraid in the begining. Powertools with blades freak me out! But once I was taught and got use to it I can do pretty well now. I don't know how to frame and cutting the boards takes half the time so if I can do that for Scott it just makes it that much easier and quicker for him. Up to this point I don't think Scott would have considered letting me do that either. Up untill today they have been in school on friday when we work and I come home in time to pick them up and then just stay home to start dinner and clean the house (monday and friday's job) Saturdays they have come with us and we have the swing set up for them there and tons of cars, tonka trucks, and other construction toys to play in the dirt. And their tire swing is up. They like to take their bikes and go down the driveway too but with the bear I have limited that. Sometimes they ride in the basement between the walls. Sometimes they help throw stuff in the fire or sweep up. They collect pilles of scrap wood and pretend to make things with it. Usualy they can hold out for 6-7 hours out there with us but then hit their attention limit. This summer my mom will be comming up Friday mornings and staying till early afternoon Saturday with them so we can work. I am looking forward to it as I know mom and she can't just sit and watch the kids. She will have dinner made both days and the house clean! And probably a pile of cookies or pies to boot! Youth work is going very smoothly right now. We haven't had any dramas since getting back and have gotten into a routine with it. We are also blessed with amazing student leaders who take on a lot of stuff! Bless them Lord!
actually that wasn't the full picture I just gave so let me add to it. I kept thinking about what you said "superwoman" and laughing. "If only Rach could see how it realy is". So this is the reality.
I am short with my kids more often than I should be. My family makes a big deal of it when I cook. Not becuase I am a good cook but becuase it isn't every night I do cook.
I sometimes get frustrated a lot with the youth kids. I vent to Scott a lot! Sometimes Scott comes home and just looks at the house wondering what happened. Becuase I get sick of picking up and cleaning and doing paperwork so I grab a book and try not to look at it all day. Sometimes I even go for a very long walk just to get away from it.
Well I could say a lot more but you get the picture. Oh Yeah! And about every two months I make sure to shedual a break down and cry on Scotts sholder for one good solid evening! So no, Rach, no superwoman. WOuld like to be! At least she has some powers. Right now even the word "no" has no power with my kids!
