When Scott was milling the timbers one of the logs it was so big that after he cut a 12x12 inch post he still had enough on the log to cut 2 10x4 inch beams. he wasn't sure were he would use them but when he was framing walls this weekend he put one up at the top of the stairs. So the first photo is of that beam and the second is of the kitchen beams again with the wall above it. I just love the rustic look of these timbers!
